DCI Book Club – Ana Reviews The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir Who Got Trapped in an Ikea Wardrobe

The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir Who Got Trapped in an Ikea Wardrobe

Written by Romain Puértolas, The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir Who Got Trapped in an Ikea Wardrobe tells the extraordinary journey (indeed) of a so-called fakir who tricks his village into giving him money to fly to Paris and buy a bed of nails at the local IKEA.

The initial and apparently simple mission of buying the bed of nails turns into a rocambolesque journey around Europe. Our endearing fakir will have the opportunity to meet lots of courageous people who will inspire his transformation into a more honest man.

Using humour, Puértolas confronts the reader with the drama of illegal immigration. This entertaining novel teaches us about kindness and generosity, and about the extraordinary journey that life is despite its hardships.

Enjoy the book…and if you are not much of a reader the movie is coming in 2017!
