DCI Friday Excursion – Collins Barracks

DCI Friday Excursion – Collins Barracks

Collins_Barracks_Museum_front

Our latest DCI Friday Excursion took us to Collins Barracks, the Decorative Arts and History branch of the National Museum of Ireland. Collins Barracks is one of Dublin’s largest tourist attractions and is a former military barracks which opened its doors to the public in 1997. Many of our students recognised Collins Barracks from scenes in the hit TV show, Penny Dreadful, and the film Michael Collins.

On display is a variety of artefacts and exhibitions and Dublin Cultural Institute’s students got an insight into what life was like in Ireland back before Wi-Fi became as essential to living as oxygen. The collection of memorabilia at Collins Barracks includes furniture, silver, ceramics and glassware, all of which shows an interesting insight to Irish history.

DCI Friday Excursions

The DCI Excursions are a weekly activity we run at our English language school in Dublin. Our Dublin Cultural Institute’s students are taken around Dublin to visit popular tourist attractions and hidden spots known only to the locals. These weekly excursions are a great way for DCI’s students to practice their English language skills they’ve learned in class in interactive situations.

There’s plenty of things to do in Dublin and you can check out our planned upcoming events and excursions on our calendar.
